What is Kimono?

“Kimono” is the Japanese traditional costume. It originally means “things to wear”. After western-style clothes(Youfuku) came into Japan in the Edo period, the word “Wafuku” started to be used to distinguish them. “Wafuku” means the same as “Kimono”.

 

 

Types of Kimono

 

Traditional wedding dress “Uchikake”

Western-style weddings are currently the mainstream in Japan, but when a bride appears in Kimono, “Uchikake” is worn.

Since white is special as a bride costume, the white Uchikake(Shiro-muku) is the finest outfit. The color Uchikake(Iro-uchikake) is colorful and luxurious.

 

The top formal attire for married women “Tomesode”

“Tomesode” is the most prestigious kimono for married women. It is worn by the bride and groom’s mother and relatives at weddings.

 

The top formal attire for unmarried women “Furisode”

“Furisode” is the most prestigious kimono for unmarried women. It is worn at the Coming-of-Age ceremony and attending weddings. It features very long sleeves that sway when moving.

 

The popular casual kimono in summer “Yukata”

“Yukata” is the kimono that modern people wear most often. Formal kimonos such as “Furisode” and “Tomesode” have limited opportunities to wear, but we can always wear yukata in casual situations. However, since it was originally worn after bathing, and basically with bare feet, it should be considered similar to T-shirts and flip-flops. You can buy a cheap Yukata set about 3000 yen.

Enjoy coordination “Obi”

I think the obis are artworks like kimonos. There are so many beautiful obis that make you want to display like paintings.

 

Not just decorations “Obi-jime & Obi-age”

They look like fashionable tools, but they actually play very important roles to fix the obi.

 

Underwear for kimono “Naga-juban”

It protects the kimono from getting dirty with sweat. But you can see the fabric of the collar and sleeves, so it is also an important item for enjoying coordination.

 

Makes more fasionable collar “Han-eri”

We use it sewn on the Naga-juban. If you rent Kimono it usually already sewn on Naga-juban, but those are troublesome tasks to sew and take it off by yourself.

 

Footwear for kimono “Zouri & Geta”

“Zori” is for formal, and “Geta” is for casual scenes.

 

Socks for kimono “Tabi”

着物とは

日本にほんの民族衣装みんぞくいしょう「着物」。もともとは「着きる物もの」という意味いみの言葉ことばです。江戸えど時代後期じだいこうきに洋服ようふくが入はいって来きたため、区別くべつするために「和服わふく」という言葉ができましたが、これは着物と同おなじ意味です。

 

 

着物の種類

 

伝統的でんとうてきな花嫁はなよめ衣装いしょう「打掛うちかけ」

日本では現在げんざい、洋式ようしきの結婚式けっこんしきが主流しゅりゅうとなっていますが、花嫁が和装わそうで登場とうじょうする際さいに着用ちゃくようするのが「打掛うちかけ」です。

花嫁衣裳として白しろは特別とくべつなので、白い打掛をまとう「白しろ無垢むく」は最上級さいじょうきゅうの装よそおいです。「色いろ打掛」は色鮮あざやかで豪華ごうかな印象いんしょうです。

 

既婚きこん女性じょせいの第一礼装だいいちれいそう「留袖とめそで」

既婚女性が着用する着物の中なかで、最もっとも格式高かくしきだかいのが「留袖」です。結婚式では新郎しんろう新婦しんぷの母親ははおやや親族しんぞくが着用します。

 

未婚みこん女性の第一礼装「振袖ふりそで」

「振袖」は未婚女性にとって最も格式高い着物です。成人式せいじんしきや結婚式の参列さんれつ時じに着用します。振袖という名なの通とおり、動うごくと振ふれる長ながい袖が特徴です。

 

夏なつの定番ていばんカジュアル「浴衣ゆかた」

夏に着用する「浴衣」は、現代人げんだいじんにとって最も着用する機会きかいの多おおい着物と言いえます。振袖や留袖のようにフォーマルな着物は着用機会が限かぎられますが、浴衣はカジュアルシーンでいつでも着られます。ただし、本来ほんらいは湯ゆ上あがりに着ていたもので、素足すあしに下駄げたが基本きほんなので、Tシャツ＆ビーチサンダルと同じようなものと考かんがえるといいでしょう。安価あんかなもだと帯おびと下駄もセットで3,000円えんほどで購入こうにゅうできます。

着物もそうですが、帯も芸術作品げいじゅつさくひんだと思おもいます。絵画かいがのように飾かざっておきたい美うつくしい帯が沢山たくさんあります。

ワンポイントのオシャレ道具どうぐのように見みえますが、帯が崩くずれないように固定こていをしたり、実じつはとても重要じゅうような役割やくわりも果はたしています。

 

和服用ようの下着したぎ「長襦袢ながじゅばん」

着物を汗あせなどで汚よごさないようにするものです。首元くびもとや袖口そでぐちなどから長襦袢の衿えりや袖そでが見えるのでコーディネートを楽しむ上うえでも重要なアイテムです。

 

衿元えりもとのおしゃれ「半衿はんえり」

長襦袢の襟元に縫ぬい付つけて使つかいます。レンタルの着物ではすでに縫い付けてあるものが多いですが、コーディネートに合わせて自分じぶんで縫ったり、取とったりするのはなかなか手間てまのかかる作業さぎょうですね。

 

和服用の履物はきもの「草履ぞうり・下駄げた」

「草履」はフォーマル、「下駄」はカジュアルシーンに合わせる履物です。

草履・下駄などを履はく際に用もちいるため、つま先さきが親指おやゆびと他ほかの指の部分ぶぶんの2つに分わかれています。
